BMW’s North American arm offers a tailor-made smartphone application as part of its Roadside Assistance service in the U.S.
The app has been co-developed with Allstate Roadside Services, can be personalized by BMW owners and is compatible with iPhone, BlackBerry and Android operating systems. It uses the smartphone’s GPS to locate the owner and the vehicle and automatically sends the vehicle’s details to the BMW Roadside Assistance center. This includes the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN), color and photo (if a picture had been associated with the vehicle).
The application is compatible with any registered BMW model in the U.S. (models from 1975 onwards) and can support up to four cars simultaneously.
In addition to that, the app automatically sends the assistance vehicle to the location, making the process more efficient. It also offers users direct telephone access to BMW centers.
“BMW Roadside Assistance has always been a leader in premium roadside services for the North American customer,” stated Dan Creed, Vice President, Aftersales, BMW of North America. “The new, free smartphone application will find appeal not only with our core enthusiast customer but will also prove a valuable tool for any BMW driver requiring the services of BMW Roadside Assistance.”
The new application is included in BMW North America’s Ultimate Service plan that covers both new and used vehicles. However, the application can be used free of cost only during the vehicle’s warranty period.
