Alonso, Massa Hopeful of Title-Winning Ferrari F10

Fernando Alonso recently experienced his first car launch at Ferrari and admitted his excitement over it. The Spaniard joined his new teammate Felipe Massa, team principal Stefano Domenicali and CEO of the company Luca di Montezemolo at the Maranello launch earlier today, and expressed his hopes that the new F10 will take him to the world title this year.

This is the first time for me, the first presentation for Ferrari, and it is a big emotion for me. I want to thank the whole team because they have worked really hard in the last few months to create this dream, this new car, and I want to thank sponsors and partners as they have worked hard and there is a lot of passion,” said Alonso during the Ferrari presentation of the F10 earlier today.

We are ready to take this challenge and the responsibility to bring it to 100 per cent of its potential. Felipe and I will be a very strong team and we hope we will make all the Ferrari supporters around the world very proud to see this car winning the championship,” added the Spaniard.

The Ferrari engineers and designers have started to develop the F10 ever since mid-season 2009, when it was pretty clear that the F60 was out of the championship battle with rivals Brawn GP or Red Bull. Giving the fact that the refueling ban and the lack of KERS for 2010 were announced during the summer of last year, the team had all the necessary data to work on the new car.

With the F60 being such a disappointment last year, it would be an understatement to say the F10 will hardly be a successor of the last year's machine. Ferrari proceeded to fixing the aerodynamic failures of the F60 and, as both Alonso and Felipe Massa said on Thursday, made sure that the new car would fight for the title in 2010.

The F10's showdown will take place later today, when Felipe Massa is scheduled to do a promotional-related test-drive with it on the Fiorano track.

I am proud and very happy and feel that I want to work more than ever, so I would really hope that this will be a very competitive car and we will be fighting for the championship and our Ferrari, the red car, will be in pole position,” said Massa.
