The compact executive segment is ablaze right now with brand new models. BMW has an ever-expanding lineup of engines for the 3 Series range, but there's also no shortage of competitors: Cadillac ATS, Lexus IS, Audi A4 facelift, Infiniti Q50 and so on.
But the car we expect can challenge the 3er for supremacy is none of the above brands. It can only be a Mercedes, with its stylish interior and of course, the badge that's the size of a full-size can of soda.
The next-generation Mercedes C-Class will ride on a new platform, lighter and bigger than the current model. A completely new styling direction will be taken, similar to the E-Class facelift. But its this simple and elegant new look that will win Mercedes the most fans, as the 3 Series is beginning to look as a modernistic overcomplicated design.
It will be available first as a saloon and only after that as an estate, coupe and convertible.
