2013 NAIAS: Volkswagen CrossBlue Concept [Live Photos]
It’s a preview concept for a production crossover that will slide into the US model range (price-wize) in between the Tiguan and Touareg. The modular MQB platform has been stretched to produce a substantial body that’s 4986mm (196.3 inches) long, 2014mm (79.3 inches) wide and 1732mm (68.2 inches) tall.
As a concept, the CrossBlue only seats 6 people (2+2+2) However, when it does enter production, the middle seats will be swapped for a bench.
Volkswagen tell us also very green, being capable of 89 mpg, thanks to its hybrid drivetrain that combines a TDI Clean Diesel Engine producing 190 hp with two electric motors that combine to create a unique electric AWD system.
What they can’t tell you is just how well this concept is put together. Just the right combination of wood, caramel colored leather for the dash and sandy leather for the seats, plus plenty of chrome, combine to make the CrossBlue an awesome place to be.
