Current standings in the the Free Practice at the Circuit de Catalunya see Valentino Rossi in the lead, with the fastest of his 17 laps running 1m42s297, just 49 thousandths of a second ahead of team mate Jorge Lorenzo, whose new helmet seems to bring luck for the home race.
Honda's Dani Pedrosa sits in third, one and an half tenth behind the Doctor, followed by Cal Crutchlow who seems to ride better and better. The top 5 is completed by Alvaro Bautista of GO&FUN Honda Gresini, recovered from a crash he went through this morning.

Marc Marquez is sixth and said that Barcelona is by far the most difficult race of the season, so far. Next in line come Ducati's Hayden and Dovizioso, LCR Honda rider Stefan Bradl and and Power Electronics Aspar pilot Aleix Espargaro.

Crutchlow's team mate Bradley Smith had a hard crash and was rushed to the Medical Center for a check-up.

To end this Catalunya report, we add that Nicky Hayden managed to match the track top speed record set 9 years ago by Alex Barros. Hayden rode his Ducati at a top speed of 339.4 km/h (210.9 mph).
