Porsche is on a special edition frenzy. As you know, the company’s latest bespoke model is the 911 Speedster, which has just been introduced at the Paris Auto Show. However, the company has now given the green light to a new project of this kind. It seems that Porsche has decided to go ahead with the development of the vehicle as it has received positive feedback from dealers. Various media reports indicate that the car was recently showcased during an internal Porsche meeting.
According to a member of the Team Speed forums, the company has approved the rumored Cayman CS (Club Sport), with the vehicle set to make its debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show later this year and hit the market next year as a 2012 model.
The vehicle will come with a 3.4 liter engine developing 333 hp and will tip the scales at 162-184 lbs lower than the Cayman S. To achieve the weight reduction, the car will come with elements such as aluminum doors, fabric door pulls, a lightweight boot lid and others.
The Cayman CS will come with goodies such as a locking rear differential, 19 inch lightweight alloy rims and a “heavier” steering. The interior will also feature sporty equipment, such as a set of bucket seats.
Customers will also be able to choose an optional top-spec braking package and Track Pack – this includes a partial roll cage, harness and fitting as well as a fire extinguisher and will only be available in Europe.
The vehicle will also offer a redesigned front fascia, a ducktail-style rear spoiler, Cayman Club Sport decals on the sides and others.
