The vehicle isn’t an incredibly far stretch from the RCZ you can find in the showroom, but it does come with certain modifications. Let’s start with the engine. The 1.6-liter THP turbocharged four-cylinder engine has received a lot of attention by Magneti Marelli and now delivers 50 extra hp, allowing the driver to use a total of 250 hp, while the torque sits at 214 lb-ft. The powerplant works with a SADEV six-speed paddle shift sequential transmission.
The rest of the changes are the usual ones that a car receives when it goes racing, such as the removal of the interior elements and the addition of specific safety elements, such as bucket seats and a roll cage. We have to tell you that the aforementioned diet, together with other similar moves, have allowed the car to shed an impressive 250 kg.
The list of tech mods also includes a new suspension, as well as a beefier braking system, which comes from AP Racing.
“We wanted to make a ‘real’ race car for racers,” said Frederic Bertrand, Head of Customer Competition at Peugeot Sport. “It is intended for customers of all ages, from all walks of life, it is in fact a ‘no-limit’ race car.”
Racing teams should prepare EUR54,900 (around $77,500 at the current rate) if they want to use it in the 2012 season, which will feature seven events.
