Long wheelbase versions of luxury saloons are big business, especially in China. There Mercedes makes an exclusive version of the E-Class, offering better legroom in the back. Fellow German automaker BMW will soon have a similar long wheelbase conversion, this time for the brand new, sixth-generation 3-Series, which is already much improved over its predecessor when it comes to cabin space.
These photos of the upcoming 335Li were taken by Chinese automotive Website Autohome and spotted by BMW Blog. The car will be hit dealer’s lots in China starting this summer, going up against Audi’s A4 L.
The ca you see here is the top of the range 335Li, powered by a 3.0-liter twin-turbo straight-six with 306 horsepower and 400 Nm of torque between 1200 and 5000 rpm. However, the Chinese market will also have LWB versions of the 320i and 328i, and the oddly enough for a luxury limo, the Sport line looks to be available.
