The prices of E30 M3s have gone through the roof lately due to increasing demand on the market but also their collector item status. You can find them at prices close or even over six figures so you know it’s not all that easy to find one in the first place.
Therefore, this 1988 model that we found on eBay might be a good buying opportunity if you were looking into getting yourself one of the original M3s. Yes, this is a nice E30 with its original engine on and a few cracks here and there but nothing you can’t sort out if you really want to. Plus, the price tag it has makes it appealing.
The car is located on Rockville, Maryland at the moment and the eBay ad has no reserve. The things you might want to fix after buying it include a crack in the dash and the non-original paint, but they might not be so stringent at first.
According to the seller, it was involved in a minor accident in 2006 when the car was hit on the right front fender and that’s what triggered the respraying of the entire body. Also, it would appear that the front fender was replaced along with the driver’s side door and fender.
Even so, the work that was done on it was of top notch and you really can’t tell that it was worked on. The interior looks impeccable for its age and the instrument cluster was apparently restored.
One thing that always comes with older cars is rust. Well, it seems like on this particular car this sort of problem is limited to one small spot underneath. At least that’s what the owner claims but we have a pretty hard time imagining that the usual corroded places like the trunk or battery tray are impeccable.
Overall, it’s a good car at a good price. It might not be the cheapest, but it’s definitely not the most expensive E30 M3 on the market. All in all, we’d give it a look over if we were in the area.
