100+ years since the invention of the self-propelled car, three new engines battle for a place in the automotive future. Which one do you see in your car 10 years from now?
Based on the same platform as the previous Evo VIII sibling, the ninth generation model saw quite a number of adjustments from new body shell styling to under-bonnet upgrades. The model was launched on March 3rd 2005 with a 2.0 L engine capable of developing 286 hp and close to 400 Nm of maximum torque. The power and torque output boost was made possible through the introduction of Mitsubishi's MIVEC technology, a variable valve timing system. Performance varied on the choice of trim, from the standard and RS to the SE and previously introduced MR with the latter having remained unchanged. European trim range however, was limited to the RS, GT and GSR with a shared power output of 286 hp and different torque figures.
