We all know that German cars are complicated engineering exercises, which can sometimes lead to servicing nightmares. However, Scotty Kilmer, who's probably the most famous car mechanic on Youtube, thinks Mercedes is the devil.
Honestly, you guys will believe that we're exaggerating right up until you watch this video and see the fellow screaming and shouting about an 8-year-old Mercedes-Benz CLS 550. It's a timeworn car, so it's normal that faults appear in the system, but some of the engineering problems Scotty mentions just aren't real.

For example, he says that the glass on these frameless doors has to go down before you can open the door so as not to damage the rubber. As far as we know, almost every car with frameless doors has that feature, so the Mercedes CLS is not overcomplicated. It's not just modern cars, as the feature has been available for several decades and even French car companies use it.

Then there's the problem that brake pads on the CLS don't cover the whole rotor. Again, many cars have this and if the pad is smaller than the disk, not just expensive ones. And how can the newly installed pads make noise if they too are smaller than the rotor, like the old ones? Doesn't that mean the pads are bigger than they're supposed to be?

As for low profile tires and alloys getting damaged, it's not like a Honda Civic Si has too much sidewall either, but Scotty doesn't complain about that.

25 errors showing on the computer, now that's serious. Ignition problems can occur even within the first couple of years of such a sophisticated car's life, costing a small fortune to put right. So when you see a $100k car selling for $10k, know that it's been beaten down to a then of its value.
