Yamaha YZF-R1M Papercraft Ultra-Realistic Model Available

Papercraft models have always been a sweet addition to Yamaha's range of motorcycles, and it's been more than once when they served as much-appreciated gifts for all occasions. Some say that Yamaha should have thought of delivering 3D models that can be printed at home, but nothing beats a papercraft model.

For this Christmas, Yamaha's papercraft kit designer Nobutaka Mukouyama prepared the top-spec YZF-R1M machine, the flagship superbike in ultra-realistic details and offering an even more fun and challenging task.

The first R1 papercraft model arrived in 1999, followed by another one in 2007, but the current version exceeds all expectations. The 1999 R1 comprised a total of 167 parts, whereas the ultra-realistic R1M has a total of 914. The old R1 papercraft model had 14 parts sheets, but those who want to build the R1M will have to print a total of 54 sheets.

As for the scale and size, the new Yamaha papercraft model is also cooler. From the 35cm-long (13.8") approx. 1:6 scale R1, the R1M is a 1:5 scale model that is 41 cm (16.1") long.Patience is a virtue, and only the virtuous will be able to complete the papercraft R1M
We took our time to gaze at the photos below for minutes, analyzing the amazing details of the new papercraft model. Assembling the model might be an "Asian level" task if your hands are not too precise, and you might need to print some extra sheets now and then.

Yamaha doesn't tell how many hours are needed to come from a stack of printed sheets to the R1M ready to be displayed, but we reckon it's going to take more than an afternoon, especially if you have some beers or bottles of wine around you, since it's Christmas, anyway.

The Yamaha YZF-R1M sheets can also be downloaded with the official color scheme already in place, but an all-white edition is also available in case you feel like going creative.

Anyone who completes this papercraft bike and sends us that ton of detailed photos gets exposure on our website, and we're not kidding. We want to see the paper R1M in the flesh! Follow the link to download the Yamaha YZF-R1M papercraft model for free.
