With This Wakeboard There’s No More Need for a Motorboat

Swedish company Radinn’s recently unveiled electric wakeboard might be yet another water sports toy to change the rules of the game. Jet-propelled and wireless hand-controlled, the craft turns exactly like a wakeboard, only you won’t need to be towed behind a motorboat anymore and still reach pretty decent speeds.
This toy definitely qualifies for the next generation water sports gadgets, which means we’ll put it next to the Spanish-made Blade electric surfboard, that is able to reach up to 44 mph (71 km/h), and the German-made Waterwolf, that is quite similar only it’s a bit slower. As you’ll find out watching the video below, Radinn’s wakeboard is quite similar to an electric surfboard only it comes with slightly different design.

According to their website, the rider will control the board with his hand using a wireless connection. The board has an efficient jet-propulsion, it’s made out of carbon fiber, and is powered by lightweight lithium batteries.

Radinn is a young Swedish company founded by wakeboarder Philip Werner last year. They claim to have a great team of water sport enthusiasts, wakeboarders and engineers that all share the vision to revolutionize the industry. The current prototype can travel at speeds up to 29mph (46 km/h), but the firm said the final version is being designed to go even faster.

As to what you’ll need to actually get it, well, patience and a bit of saving up. The Swedish designers unveiled the board at the Cannes Yachting Festival earlier this month and will most likely be priced at $20,000 (€15,000) when it goes on sale next year.
