This is an interesting question, that all BMW fans are asking themselves these days. BMW already announced that this option will be available on future cars, but how will it add up to the expectations Bimmer fans have?
Herbert Diess said this week, in an interview for Auto Motor und Sport, that future cars from BMW will definitely have this feature but that customers shouldn't worry about it.

Diess said that BMW stands for sheer driving pleasure, and that will definitely not change. The new system will only be used in heavy traffic, when driving is just not fun, for example in narrow roads of long waiting lines. The new BMW i3 will have this option at the end of 2013. Being used in a traffic jam, this feature will take over speed control as well as longitudinal and lateral control.

Other features of the autonomous driving control will be used in certain circumstances like autonomous parking in the garage, or for parallel parking.
