Wilairot to Leave Intensive Care in One Week

Moto2 rider Ratthapark Wilairot's condition is getting better by the day and will likely leave intensive care in about a week time. The encouraging news was reported by crash.net website, according to which the Thailand-born rider is responding to treatment and his doctors are optimistic for the future upcoming week.

Two days ago, while returning to his home from the funeral of his father Kristmas Wilairot, the Moto2 rider was involved in a motorcycle accident at 3 AM. The crash left him unconscious and with severe injuries and bruises on his hands and head. Needless to say, the paramedics came immediately and took him to the nearest hospital, Bumrungrat Bangkok Hospital, where he was transferred to the Intensive Care Unit.

According to a press release issued by his team Thai Honda PTT Singha SAG “the current state of Feem (this is how Ratthapark Wilairot is affectionately known as) is encouraging because although he still has a clot in his head, it is disappearing due to medication.”

Moreover Wilairot has his left eye completely closed but fully understands what is asked and although he cannot speak because of the ventilator he can respond gesticulating,” added the release.

The next step in Wilairot's recovery process, as soon as he leaves Intensive Care and is able to breath without medical aids, is to undergo a 6-week rehabilitation period. However, until that happens, we'll keep you posted on his medical condition and his future program for the upcoming couple of months.
