When a 2016 Ford Focus RS and a 340 HP Seat Leon Cupra Race on the Nurburgring

Now that more and more examples of the 2016 Ford Focus RS are reaching their owners, it was only a matter of time until one of these manic hatches showed up during the Nurburgring's infamous Touristenfahrten (tourist days) events.

Interestingly, the Mk III Focus RS we want to show you today had an evenly matched partner on the track - we're talking about a current-generation SEAT Leon Cupra, one that had been gifted with a reasonable amount of circuit-savvy mods, chief among which is a 340 hp kit from German tuner ABT.

In fact, the Cupra is the camera car, with the SEAT chasing the Ford for the first two minutes (almost) of their Nordschleife adventure. Both these cars can lap the Nordschleife in under eight minutes and it shows.

Even so, you can see the fast Ford displaying its body roll at certain times. Yes, the RS is gifted with adaptive dampers, which see the Track setting stiffening things up by 40 percent. Even so, since the street setup manages to offer a relatively comfy ride, there's only so much an adaptive setup can do on the track.

Returning to the Green Hell action, once the Leon Cupra passes the Focus RS, the SEAT carries on with its hot lap, but unfortunately encounters heavy traffic due to an accident.

Those of you following our Nurburgring stories may recognize this track hero as being xthilox, one of the Ring Wolves who like to hunt down inexperienced supercar drivers in their modded hot hatches.

P.S.: In case some of you were wondering about the other tuning bits on the Cupra, we have to explain the Leon is gifted with a KW Clubsport three-way adjustable suspension, performance brake pads, 18-inch ATS GTR wheels shod in Dunlop Direzza 235/40 rubber, as well as Recaro Pole Position seats.
