Want a Job with Audi? The Germans Are Hiring, as Long as You Can “Vorsprung Durch Technik”

With 2015 quickly coming to an end, Audi is looking into the future. It has laid down its intentions for the coming year while also touching on the subject of medium-term planning.

Even though not as hard as parent company Volkswagen, Audi too was hit by the Dieselgate scandal and is now seeking to reinvent itself as a leading name in the field of new technologies. After all, its tagline kind of demands it.

So, besides investing tons of money in expanding its range (said to reach 60 different vehicles by 2020) and improving its facilities (especially those in Ingolstadt and Neckarsulm), Audi is also looking to hire experts that would enrich the brand’s expertise and maybe help it regain its second place in the global premium market that was lost to Mercedes-Benz this year. And, why not, go even further from there and take down BMW, the current leader.

In a press release made available today, Mr. Thomas Sigi, Board of Management Member for Human Resources at Audi AG, said somewhat vaguely, “We are looking for experts in areas important for the future.” What exactly does that mean?

The same press release goes on to detail that the main areas where Audi is looking to hire are specialists in alternative drive systems, lightweight construction, but also people specializing in IT solutions that can offer various opportunities for development regarding the vehicles themselves, and also provide support in the process of switching over to smart factories and general digitalization.

Audi is already heavily involved in all the main directions the automotive industry is headed: it’s got hybrid and battery-powered electric vehicles, it’s close to showing a fuel cell car and it’s among the leading companies in the race to self-driving cars. However, the competition is also extremely active on all these fronts, so complacency is the recipe for disaster.

That’s why Audi AG is looking for new, fresh talent to help the brand move forward and, with the right incentives, it might just be able to steal a few prominent names from other companies. We’ve seen how Tesla and Google employees jumped boats from one direction to another over time, so why shouldn’t it happen in Germany as well?
