The upcoming fourth generation of the Mercedes-Benz C-Class is expected to be a game-changer for the Stuttgart manufacturer after all other previous models were simply an improved version of the previous one.
Even though it will increase in size considerably, the new W205 C-Class is set to be around 100 kg (220 pounds) lighter than the current generation thanks to lessons learned from the W222 S-Class, meaning extra use of aluminium and a lithium-ion battery.

The ground-breaking changes should translate into the AMG version as well, which will replace its legendary M156 engine with a completely new unit based on bonding two M133 inline four-pots from the “45 AMG” series.

Internally codenamed M177, the new twin-turbocharged four-liter V8 will become the core AMG eight-cylinder engine in for all the non-MFA platform models the future.

The version fitted to the C 63 AMG W205 in the adjacent photo gallery is set to develop at least 480 hp and 650 Nm (516 lb ft) of torque, which should translate into a sub 4.2 second time from naught 100 km/h (62 mph) for the rear-wheel drive version, while the expected 4Matic all-wheel drive variant should equal or even best the current E 63 AMG 4Matic.

Later on, AMG will also introduce a 500+ hp S-Model, following in the footsteps of the CLS and E 63 AMG S-Model versions.
