Volkswagen continues to have problems due to its faulty DSG automated manual gearboxes. Once viewed as the way of the future in terms of changing gears, they are now proving problematic, as yet another recall was announced, this time in Singapore.
The world's second largest automaker will recall a total of 6,181 cars equipped with DSG gearboxes in Singapore. The German company says their problematic transmissions could cause slight power losses but do not pose safety risks. The reality is that even though it's not a mandatory fix, not dealing with their customers' complaints would lose them many more customers.
Owners from across the world have reported issues like knocking in second gear, clutch slippage and sometimes oil leaks caused by the vibrations.
The Singapore recall will be conducted free of charge and could take a few months before dealers repair all the cars.
