Stopping a car from evading the law by setting up road spike strips, a scenario we've seen with several occasions, might become a thing of the past.
Thanks to Arizona-based company Pacific Scientific, the Police may have a more safer and "not-lethal vehicle arresting device" at their disposal. Called Pit-BUL (Ballistic Undercarriage Lanyard), the all-new innovative device can disable a vehicle by deploying a large netting that locks up the front wheels.
As seen in the clip posted below, the Pit-BUL is quite effective and can immobilize any up to 6000 lbs (2.7 ton) car that runs over it just a few seconds. The Pit-BUL can also be used to stop vehicles from entering a restricted area or passing a check point, and it's most effective at speeds of up to 40 mph.
Using such a device will of course set law enforcement units back with a few bucks, as the Pit-BUL is priced at $29,000, while additional net kits cost $3,000.
