Here's a mysterious start of the week as Victory Motorcycles and Roland Sands Design announce the upcoming Project 156. Judging by the poster the two have sent to the press and reading "Race to the Clouds", we're putting our money on two possible things.
The first thing coming to mind is obviously a special Victory motorcycle, heavily customized using existing RSD parts and some belonging to a new line-up dedicated to Victory bikes. So far, Roland Sands was involved with Harley-Davidson and BMW bikes, but business opportunities can, of course, be found anywhere.

If RSD has decided to build custom aftermarket parts for Victory, this is great, as V and Polaris, its mother company will have yet another edge in their proverbial battle with the MoCo.

Up until now, Victory has relied on the customizing art of the Ness family, with certain spectacular results. Adding RSD DNA to the family can only make things better.

Victory in the Race to the Clouds?

The other thing is seeing Victory lining up a bike in the Pikes Peak Internation Hill climb this year. The unmistakable silhouette of the mountain can be seen on the poster, so the possibility is real.

Still, preparing a bike for a race involves shaving off weight instead of adding parts to it. Even so, browsing the various RSD collections you'll notice that a lot of the parts are drilled and machined, and the same process could indeed be used to shed some bulk off a Victory. In case we're not asking too much...

As for the 156 figure... this is a complete mystery. 156 cubic inches translate to 2,556 cubic centimeters. Is Victory building a roadster around such an engine? That would be insane! Below you can watch the PPIHC 2015 trailer.
