Via Motors will make its presence felt at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show, with three new EVs, which will be unveiled by Bob Lutz himself. If you have not heard of Via Motors, they are a company which specializes in converting GM-sourced vehicles into range-extended EVs, and since he retired from his position at General Motors, Bob Lutz has been a part of the company, as a spokesman.
He showed off a range-extender version of a Chevrolet pickup, on Jay Leno’s Garage, and explained in depth what the company is about and what their aims are. The three vehicles they will be showing off are very interesting: first off, they will be revealing a 12-passenger range-extender van, which they say is the first of its kind in the world.
Next up is an impressive-sounding 800 hp pickup truck, followed by a luxury all-wheel drive SUV, both of which are range-extended EVs.
We hope to to bring you live photos of all three, as we will be attending the famed motoring venue, when it starts, at the middle of January, 2013.
