Vettel Will Not Turn to Mind Games to Win Title

Only a few days to the penultimate race of the season, the one that can actually give us the name of our next Formula One champion, Red Bull driver Sebastian Vettel insisted that he doesn't spend too much thinking of his title chances this season. Being 16 points behind Jenson Button in the standings, the German driver prefers to take each race as it is and score the maximum number of points he can.

Math will likely come into play during the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, should Button fail to secure the 10 points of margin he needs to win the title before the season finale. Until then, however, Vettel argued that the pressure is only on the Brit's shoulders, as the 2009 title is Button's to lose rather than his to win.

I don't think very much about that,” said Vettel when asked about reporters in Brazil whether he feels that turning the title fight into a psychological game would help his case in the closing stages of the season.

I try not to be distracted by things like that (mind games). What the others do is not in my hands. I have nothing to lose and because of that I can really attack. Jenson has weakened a little bit so maybe this is our chance,” added the 22-year old German.

Vettel's team boss Christian Horner also expressed his belief that the pressure Button is about to sustain in both Brazil and Abu Dhabi is huge, comparing him “with a football player about to blow a decisive penalty,” as reported by the GMM news agency.

He (Button) can lose everything and he will not be able to get that out of his mind,” said the Red Bull team principal, who also announced that his team will bring some further updates in their RB5 in order to have a better shot at winning the last 2 races of the season.
