Founded in 1971, Vector Motors is mostly known for the W8 supercar, a twin-turbo V8-powered, mid-engined vehicle that delivered at least 650 BHP. Production ceased in 1993 and the American company was acquired by Indonesian company MegaTech.
The Vector legacy didn't end there, however, as the automaker managed to build and launch a new vehicle - the M12. Based on the WX-3 concept, the M12 was powered by a Lamborghini Diablo V12 engine (MegaTech also owned the Italian marque at the time) and was produced from 1995 through 1999.
Priced at $184,000, the M12 wasn't a sale success, with only 14 units being built, but it had an amazing sound coming from under its hood and it is now considered one of America's rarest supercars. Probably obscure is a term that suits the M12 best, but it's certainly a vehicle worth looking into.
