Valentino Rossi Bows to Xavi Hernandez, Kissez His Feet

This is one of the strangest moment the world of sport thought it would ever witness. Forget about Paris Hilton and her leather catsuit, because this piece of news right here will blow your mind away. This weekend’s Catalunya GP was the place to be for both motorsport and football fans.

FC Barcelona midfielder, now European champion with the Spanish football team, Xavi Hernandez also attended Round 5 of the 2011 Moto GP World Championship.

Xavi took the time to walk around the paddock and say hello to some of the pilots getting ready for what was maybe one of the most boring races this season. The footballer, who was named the official Man of the match of the 2011 Champions League Final against Manchester United, also stopped Ducati’s garage to meet the nine-time MotoGP champion Valentino Rossi.

But what nobody expected to happen, not even Xavi himself, happened: as he entered the box, Rossi welcomed him with a bow and declared his admiration. But wait, there’s more. In a matter of seconds, The Doctor himself kneeled before the Barcelona midfielder and... kissed his feet, as El Mundo Deportivo newspaper reports.

Unfortunately, Rossi didn't manage to celebrate Xav's visit on the track as wel, as he wasn't so competitive as he would have thought. The Italian rider only managed to clinch a fifth place and reduce the gap to the front. However, inspired by FC Barcelona's performance, he promises not to give up without a fight. "The championship is long and we’re still fully focused on both the GP11 and 2012, and we have no intention of backing off,” Rossi said after the race.
