If you want to hear the raspy exhaust note of Fiat’s 500 Abarth more clearly, then the convertible version is definitely for you. While the hardtop version of the Abarth was already available in the US, Fiat has now revealed a US-spec version of the convertible, the 500C Abarth, at the Los Angeles International Auto Show.
Powered by the same 1.4-liter turbocharged engine, it produces 160 hp and 210 Nm (155 lb-ft) and allows the car to sprint from 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in just over seven seconds. Also, with its lower and wider stance, it’s clear that it has received much more than a simple ‘tuning kit’ and some stickers - it has been thoroughly reengineered, in order to be much more engaging to drive than its non-turbo counterpart.
It features lowered and stiffened suspension, beefier brakes (with red calipers), 17-inch rims, wrapped in Pirelli P-Zero Nero tires, and a quicker steering ratio. Inside, it gets the same sporty touches as the regular Abarth, the only difference being the logo, which gains a ‘C’, after the 500.
