Kawasaki unveils their new generation of the beloved Ninja 1000 sport touring machines, boasting some revised specs and upgraded features in almost any part of the bike.
The bodywork has been revisited, as it was somehow natural, and the new design seems to blend in better the flowing lines of touring machines with the edgy aggressivity of the supersport ZX-10R cues. However, the styling is as unmistakeable as ever, and we're extremely happy to see the new bike retaining its personality.

With a slimmer rear subframe, the rear end of the bike is now more compact and will accommodate the hard side cases better. The upright position was also retained, a most worthy feature when long hauls are in the day's menu.

The power plant also got some tweaks, with the new intake cams being redesigned for obtaining more torque in the lower rpm range. With a taller sixth gear, and a slightly modified engine behavior, the whole "breathing" was also upgraded.

Add in a radial master cylinder front brake and ABS, the 2014 Ninja 1000 is more maneuverable and offers a more reassuring feel. Finally, the bike also benefits from the KTRC traction control routines, with 3 modes, each easy to combine with the full or reduced power/torque settings. The full power of the 1,043cc in-line 4 engine is expected to hit the 140 hp mark, with an 82 ft-lbs (111 Nm) torque to match, and 30% lower figures in the reduced power mode.

Available in Candy Lime Green and Candy Cascade Blue. We'll be back with the prices.
