Between £75,000 and £100,000, that's how much the guys over at Silverstone Auctions are hoping to get on the 1973 BMW 3.0 CSL 'Batmobile' FIA Race Car. And it would be worth every penny.
The car's engine has 0 miles on it, and we know it may seem impossible for a car that is 40 years old, but it is true. The experts from Mathwall Engineering did a very recent engine refresh on the car and it runs like day one.

The car was originally build as a standard BMW CSL road car, but in 2010 it was transformed into a race car by the guys over at Classic Cars of Kent. There was a lot of work involved and it took a lot of time but the results are impressive to say the least.

“Presented with FIA HTP papers, this race car is a great way to compete in the various 70’s saloon events, including the Masters series. It’s a fitting addition to our auction at the Race Retro Show, Europe’s premier international historic motorsport event, and lines up alongside a stunning array of competition cars, classic road-going models and collectable automobilia,” said Nick Whale, managing director at Silverstone Auctions.

That is not the only rare BMW put up for auction this weekend by Silverstone Auctions. The line-up includes another '73 Bimmer, this time a E9 CSI Coupe of which only 207 were build with right hand drive. The price for this one is estimated at around £18,000 to £22,000. At around the same price, you'll also be able to find a 1974 E9 CSI Coupe fitted with a 3.8 E34 M5 engine that was custom built.

Skipping forward a few years, a 1991 a E34 M5 - part of the last Ms that were build by hand - is available for around £8,000 to £10,000 and a 2006 Z4M Roadster – owned by motoring legend Colin Blower – estimated at £14,000 to £16,000.
