Unbelievable Car Offer: Two-for-One!

We all know that global economic crisis has smashed car manufacturers from all over the world but let's be honest, two-for-one special deals is a little bit too much. And in case you're wondering how's that possible, you should probably know that an UK-based dealership made an unbelievable offer in a desperate move to sell its cars: buy one vehicle and get one for free! The Guardian reports that the Colchester-based online car broker Broadspeed.com managed to sell most of its cars, with the last Dodge Avenger sedan delivered yesterday.

Obviously, such an astonishing offer not only increased its sales but also boosted the web traffic, causing the web server to crash in the first day of campaign. Sure, an unreliable server combined with glitchy software is likely to be the main cause of the outage, but such a large number of visitors using most computer resources could crash even the most stable servers.

"It was amazing. We had been trying to sell those cars online at half price for nearly a month and they were selling, but it was nothing special. But when we made the deal two-for-one, we got 22,000 customers. It's the power of marketing, I suppose. The very first call I had was from a father who was going to buy the two cars, have one himself and give the other to his son,” Simon Epson, the managing director, told The Guardian.

Car sales in the United Kingdom were down 23 percent in October which is reportedly the biggest fall in 17 years, the same source added. Moreover, the majority of car manufacturers exporting cars to UK also announced major price cuts, with BMW models cheaper by more than 17,000 pounds at some dealerships!
