If you think the Mercedes SLR isn’t cool any more because it’s old and heavy, than you probably haven’t seen or heard one in person. Face to face, it’s a wild animal that you know you need to avoid, yet also feel drawn into. It’s elemental, it’s primordial and powerful.
The SLR has exactly the right qualities you need when you have to pull people in in both the Emirates and the middle of London. But this isn’t the SLR, it’s the 722 Edition, so named to celebrate a famous race which started at 7:22 in the morning. You don’t need to know about that, because all this car really is is a better version of itself, like comparing a lioness and a fully-maned male in his prime.
Supercar spotter Shmee150 filmed this car in London recently. It belong to a Qatari owner who seems to like wrapping, because he’s had the 722 covered in turquoise blue with yellow side-lettering. The interior is also different, bright yellow with blue accents, like a Power Ranger’s helmet. Crazy right? Still beautiful though.
