Word has it Toyota will launch its first diesel full-size pickup truck in two years from now, when the next-generation Tundra is scheduled to arrive.
We already knew Toyota was evaluating the possibility of offering a Cummins V8 oil burner in the Tundra in the future, but a recent report from Ward’s Auto suggests the unit is actually a version of the same 5.0-liter diesel that will find its way in the next-generation Nissan Titan.

The source doesn’t say how different the Toyota engine will be from the Titan’s Cummins mill, but the latter is rumored to deliver more than 300 horsepower and 500 pound-feet of torque.

When launched in 2016, the Tundra will become the third full-size truck to offers a diesel engine option. Ram was the first company to introduce an oil burner on the 2014 1500 EcoDiesel.
