The unit comes to the world via the Toyota Motor Industries Poland plant, alongside the 2.0 liter and 2.2 liter D-4D powerplants. The target production volume has been set at a level of 70,000 units per year.

The 1.4 liter D-4D units produced in Poland will be supplied to the company’s production sites in the UK, France Turkey and South Africa. The engines will be used for the European-produced Auris and Yaris, as well as for the South-African produced Corolla.

The engine comes with innovative CO2 reduction technologies, such new piezo injectors, enhanced Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) cooler efficiency and a stainless steel exhaust manifold with an optional Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF).
