Toyota Motor Corporation announced to recall over one and a half million Prii hybrids to fix a software glitch that could affect performance.
Around 1.9 million Prii produced globally since March 2009 for a software flaw in the vehicles’ hybrid system. It appears that under certain driving conditions, some parts may overheat and the car will enter a failsafe mode. The vehicle will work on reduced power, but in limited cases the hybrid system could shut down completely.

There are no reports of accidents or injuries related to this problem. Owners will probably be notified via first class mail to return their Toyota Prius hybrid to the nearest dealership, where the technicians will update the software free of charge.
