Toyota Prius All-Time Sales Record in Australia

Thrilling news for Toyota from Australia, as the all-new third generation Prius managed to set record sales in the earlier mentioned auto market. The Toyota Prius is and has been since its launch the world's best selling hybrid car.

While some of you may say the Prius did benefit from a lot of publicity effort courtesy of the “environmentally conscious” Hollywood celebrities – and we would agree with you on this one – the newly released third generation Prius surpasses all of its hybrid rivals in most categories.

The Toyota Prius managed an impressive figure of 446 units sold in July on the Australian market. That translates to 60 vehicles more than in May 2007 when Toyota set the newly-broken record. That is even more impressive when you find out that the third generation Prius was just officially launched on the Australian market on July 20.

"The success of Prius reflects the growing popularity of vehicles that are viewed as environmentally friendly. At the same time, customers are telling us they welcome the added performance, space and versatility of the new car - as well as smart features such as solar panels on the roof”, declared Mr Buttner Toyota Australia's senior executive director of sales and marketing.

Toyota Prius has managed up until now a notable performance of over 1.33 million units sold worldwide, with Australia purchasing 13,300 cars. In Japan, the Prius was named the best-selling car in May this year with sales reaching 10,915 units and again in June with 22,292 units.
