It looks like Toyota is searching a viable solution to start manufacturing the convertible GT 86 model (FT 86 Open), as the concept vehicle continues to be showcased with any occasions.
The open top concept has been recently displayed at a dealer meeting in Atlanta, which hints that it might go into production after all.

“They don’t show product they don’t plan on building,” told a California Toyota dealer in an interview with Automotive News. The FR-S convertible will be also sold with Toyota badges as well and there might even be a Subaru BRZ version if they agree.

Toyota has also came up with a drawing of a possible subcompact crossover that will be smaller than the RAV4 in order to compete against Honda’s upcoming Fit-based crossover.

There are no further details on the possible crossover, but Toyota’s senior vice president Bob Carter said that the FR-S convertible “is under study but has not been green-lighted.”
