On many occasions, open letters sent to company CEOs talk about matters that require a stiff position and perhaps a straight face. Perhaps it is in our human nature to dedicate more energy to complaining than to be thankful. Nevertheless, we are here to talk about one of the exceptions, with a contempt Toyota owner willing to send a “thank you” letter to the company CEO.
We are talking about a Canadian, who’s been driving his Toyota Echo, the one you can see in the image above, for the past seven years. The man has grown up with the car, which he has also owned for the last three and a half years.
His Echo was put to sleep earlier this week after the rust affected the frame to the point of no return. The little coupe passed away after having served its humans for 264960 miles (426,586 km).
The man, who published the letter on Reddit, was thankful for the reliability of his two-door Toyota. Despite the less-than-inspiring looks, and the lack of AC, this guy says “I regret nothing, and owning that car has been nothing but an immense pleasure over the years. I just wanted to thank you for what has been nothing but an amazing and wonderful experience in the world of car ownership, when I have personally experienced, and know so many people around me, who are constantly stressed and frustrated when it comes to their cars.”
Of course, not everything has been a joy-filled rollercoaster ride - “In the summer, I would get so hot when driving I would look for bodies of water so I could pull over and go swimming before I continued my ride.”
The Echo has been scrapped, with the man now looking for a new ride. While another Toyota is obviously in the cards, the man is also considering a VW. Of course, this aspect isn’t mentioned in the letter. The same can be said about the nickname of his late Toyota, “The Motherfu**ing Toyota Echo.”
While some have raised an eyebrow wondering if the guy is looking for financial benefits, what we see here is a happy man and Toyota you could always introduce to your mother, but who would need a bit of tidying up for a prom appearance. Regardless, you have the guy’s full letter below.
