Toyota Models to Feature Pandora Internet Radio

Japanese manufacturer Toyota announced at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas that its newly-launched Entune multimedia system will also feature the Pandora Internet radio, but the company hasn't provided information on the first model to be equipped with the new technology. However, Toyota will launch the first Pandora-equipped model later this year, so more info is likely to emerge in a few months.

"Toyota's Entune definitely makes listening to personalized radio an easy and intuitive part of the in-car experience," said Pandora Founder and Chief Strategy Officer Tim Westergren.

This isn't the first time Pandora gets involved in the auto sector, as the Internet radio provider previously signed deals with multiple auto producers and aftermarket radio developers, including Alpine and Pioneer. And that's not a bad thing at all, given the fact that Pandora is one of the leading services on the Internet.

If we are to trust the figures unveiled by the company, more than 75 million users have created an account through the online interface in order to listen to the free content via smartphones, computers, TVs, Blu-Ray players and the recently-released iPads.

"Our automotive partnerships further ensure that Pandora is being heard in the most popular environment for radio listening: the car. We're very pleased to have Toyota as a key partner in this space where we aspire to make Pandora in cars as popular as Pandora on smartphones," said Senior Vice President of Business Development Jessica Steel.
