As you may know from earlier reports, Scion has a bit too many dealerships comparing to its portfolio and sales, so cutting a few would be good to minimize loss.
The statement was reinforced at Toyota’s national dealer meeting in Atlanta this month, where the issue has been discussed and the resigning solution was proposed.
“If you don't want Scion, if it doesn't work for you, it's OK if you want to walk away," Toyota executives said at the meeting.
There are 1,255 Toyota dealerships across America and about 1,000 of them are carrying the Scion franchise, a bit too many considering that the sub-brand sales are dropping since 2006, when it reached 173,034 units.
However, for the remaining dealers, Toyota said to offer the possible upcoming FT-86 Open as well as the subcompact crossover.
