Fitting your Toyota FJ Cruiser with a Toyota Racing Development (TRD) brake kit should be a good asset, but it seems that, in the case of 655 owners, this might bring trouble.
Toyota is recalling the aforementioned number of units of the FJ Cruiser fitted with the TRD brake kit due to the fact that the exterior brake tube can get damaged, causing brake fluid to leak.

We are talking about cars belonging to 2007 through 2012 model years, with the TRD high performance braking kits part number PTR09-35070 or PTR09-35100.

If the wheel balancing weights are installed in an incorrect position, they can come in contact with the outer brake tube and cause brake fluid to leak, which may result in a loss in brake pressure, or even total failure of the front brakes.

Toyota dealers will replace the outer brake with a modified one tube free of charge. This applies to all FJs, regardless of the wheel size - the 16 and 17-inch models are affected, but the cars using TRD 16-inch Beadlock rims will also be included, as a precaution measure, as owners could change wheels.

If you own one of the aforementioned vehicles, you can contact Toyota at 1-800-331-4331.
