Toyota is determined to leave the wave of recalls that has been affecting the company recently and is making sustained efforts to support this.
The Japanese company has recently confirmed the fact that it will debut its first wholly owned research & development site aimed at increasing vehicle quality in China, as People’s Daily writes.
The announcement was made by Masahiro Kata, the head of Toyota China, during a quality seminar that was recently held in Japan.
The executive didn’t offer any additional details regarding the future quality center, but added that the site’s project is currently being analyzed by the country’s authorities and that it will be located near Shanghai.
Earlier media reports indicated that the Japanese company was planing to invest between $330 million and $440 million to build an R&D site in China. However, no other information has been offered.
Toyota currently operates an R&D center in the country, but this is run through a joint venture with the local partner FAW. The site is located in Tianjin and has been inaugurated on July 5.
Back in March, Toyota named a new chief quality officer and debuted a special plan in the country. This is governed by the China Quality Special Committee, which was established in April and is aimed at increasing the level of quality in the country.
Toyota plans to follow two main directions in order to achieve the aforementioned goal. The company will carefully supervise its research & production and will also pay more attention to customer feedback.
