Toyota Corolla Hits Manhole and Flips Over

After seeing this video you will definitely think twice before driving over a manhole next time. Even if they look so peacefully laying down there on the road to give you a gentle bump when you cross them, some are just some stalking predators waiting to flip your car over.

Like this Russian Toyota Corolla driver experienced. It looks like sometimes, after/during heavy rain, manhole covers are “jumping” a few inches from air pressure in the sewers that accumulates due to the large amount of water that gushes in.

And that is a real threat, as you can hit the lifted cast iron manhole cover with the undercarriage of your vehicle and get propelled upwards. Just like in pole-vaulting. See the clip bellow with the jumping Corolla and then another one with a manhole cover “dancing in the rain”.
