Despite the financial problems that ended the French automaker’s partnership with BMW, PSA Peugeot Citroen will continue to collaborate with Toyota in order to provide minicars to the European market.
The future generation Peugeot 107 and Citroen C1 will be manufactured on the same line as the Toyota Aygo in Kolin, Czech Republic according to PSA.
“Yes, the next generation will once again be jointly developed and produced in the Czech Republic,” PSA CEO Philippe Varin said in an interview with Auto Motor und Sport.
Toyota and Peugeot have a long partnership, with their jointly-developed project having started in February 2005, with more than 2 million vehicles produced since. The joint project between the two manufacturers has also resulted in producing the Toyota Proace commercial van, based on the Citroen Jumpy and Peugeot Expert.
