A new special edition for the Camry and Corolla isn’t the only show Toyota wants to put down at the Chicago Auto Show next week. According to the adjacent photo, the automaker plans to introduce a new Avalon model there.
Toyota just threw this darkened photo over the internet saying it’s a new Avalon model and it will shine some light on it’s shapes at 2:30 p.m. CT, Thursday, February 12th. Which is exactly one week from now.

The current Avalon model is in its fourth generation, having entered production in 2012, so don’t expect a whole new car coming to Chicago. The automaker will most certainly show us a facelift there... a quite big one if you ask us.

There’s really not much to say about the photo, but the next Avalon surely looks to come with restyled headlights, hood and a redesigned gaping lower grille, somewhat similar with the front end of the new Yaris hatchback.

Of course, changes will be happening at the rear too, where we expect the car to come with new LED taillamps as well as a new bumper with possible integrated exhaust tips.

The interior should change a bit too, but what’s under the hood will most probably stay the same. The current Avalon is offered with a 3.5-liter V6 making 268 hp and 248 lb-ft (363 Nm) mated to a 6-speed automatic gearbox, or a hybrid powertrain comprising a 2.4-liter four-pot mated to an ECVT totaling 200 hp.

It should be a good transition for the Avalon. We never liked that beard-trimmer front end anyway.
