As if people weren’t picking on Toyota for making home appliances on wheels (well, that changed a bit now), the automaker now works with Panasonic to allow you control your home appliances from inside the appli car.
Pioneering brand in providing smart home appliances Panasonic and world car sales leader Toyota Motor Corporation united forces last year to co-develop services for next-gen telematics systems that will connect your car with different home appliances.
The plan started to take shape this year by laying the groundwork for the new services, including and app for in-car use that will inform you about some of your home appliances status and even control them remotely.
For example, using GPS data, the interface will tell you to stop the air conditioning as you leave home and inform you that you can turn it on again before arriving. Same can work for your TV, washing machine, lights, cooker and more.
The technology will be displayed at the Toyota booth during the Smart Community Japan 2014 event held at the Tokyo Big Sight from June 18th to 20th. The two companies said they will continue developing smarter mobility features, connecting people, cars, homes and communities through cloud-based services.
Neat way to deceive thieves and suggest them you are home, isn't it?
