After the avalanche of technology-packed high performance vehicles, with electronic this and hybrid that, we take a look at the “dark side” of motoring.
Although this video shows an old car, it reminds us that you don’t need 640 hp, carbon fiber and electronic differentials to stand out in the crowd. In the eyes of the right gear-head, this rusty ’48 Chevy rat rod pickup has more personality than three Lamborghini Venenos wrapped in gold foil. This pickup looks like it’s body came out from the bottom of a lake, it has a cabin floor made out of old number plates and the only shiny accessories are the rims and the headlight covers. And still, it reminds you of how simple and fun driving was in the old days, when shape didn’t necessarily needed to go hand in hand with functionality. A period when the car was providing only an engine, a steering wheel, gearstick and some pedals, the rest depending on you how to use them efficiently.

The video bellow is perfect in every way - the filming is a professional job, the rusty old car is perfect, having like a reminiscent aura from the old days, and the music... the music is spot on. It is a real timekeeper.

Mind the “hybrid” badge though, as this banger surely has some big V8 under the hood to blast it from the past.
