When I first drove a M6 I thought it was just right when it came to the exhaust sound. I wouldn’t want to hear any other people complaining about it and saying that it was just too shy to be worthy of an M car.
After a while, the job I currently have put me face to face with some of the newer Mercedes-Benz offerings, some of which were AMG. That’s when I truly realized that BMWs are lacking a lot on that front.

Sure, they make up for it with powerful mills and good driving dynamics but the thing is, the sound is one of the most important parts of a true M experience the the M5/M6 duo we have today simply aren’t up to the task in standard guise.

That’s where aftermarket companies chip in. Eisenmann and Akrapovic have very potent choices but there are other ones out there as well. Introducing the iPE exhaust.

Made of their usual inconnel material, the sound this thing makes is one of the best out there. It’s neither too loud nor too high pitched if you ask me.

According to the sound level meter in the video below, up to 110dB were reached at times, which is an impressive value. At the same time, with the valves closed (yes, it’s valvetronic) it’s rather decent, even in higher RPM.

The complete system includes catless downpipes, cross pipe and valvetronic mufflers. The price? Around $8,000 depending on your local dealer or the company you get it from.
