This is the upcoming Denza Z9, BYD’s flagship station wagon that the auto giant presented wrapped in camouflage in early April. The model surfaced online.
The Denza Z9 GT was first revealed in the shape of a prototype while winter-testing in Stuttgart, Germany. At the time, the model was wearing camouflage.

Meanwhile, the camouflage dropped, and the car ended up online at China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MITT). That is where all models are shown once the automaker submits them for homologation, something that automakers are definitely not happy about.

Therefore, BYD requested the homologation of the model before sending it into production and on the market. The MITT shows photos and provides information on design, powertrain, and specs, data that car manufacturers would prefer to keep under wraps until the moment of the official unveiling.

The Denza Z9 GT is a large five-seat station wagon, which measures 204 inches (5,180 millimeters) meters in length, 78.3 inches (1,990 millimeters) in width, and 59 inches (1,500 millimeters) in height, sporting a wheelbase of 123 inches (3,125 millimeters). A panoramic roof and a power rear wing are on the menu.

The station wagon is powered by three electric motors that send 952 horsepower (965 metric horsepower) to both axles. The motor at the front generates 308 horsepower (312 metric horsepower), while the two at the rear bring along 322 horsepower (326 metric horsepower) each. They need to pull a car that tips the scale at 6,338 pounds (2,875 kilograms).

There is no information on how quick the Denza Z9 is from 0 to 60 mph (0 to 97 kph). But what we do know is that it can hit 150 mph (240 kph).

The model will be equipped with BYD's LFP Blade battery, but there is no information about how far it will get on a single charge. LiDAR sensors and carbon fiber body parts will be present.

We will get to see the Denza Z9 by the end of the year. The model will set wheels on European soil in 2025, but its arrival in the United States is yet uncertain. It might happen, though, since BYD announced that the Z9 GT will go global.

Mercedes-Benz still holds 10 percent of the Denza company, instead of the original 50 percent that it started with before leaving BYD to handle 90 percent of the shares in December 2021. However, as reported by CarNewsChina, there is no information on Mercedes' involvement in the development of the Z9.

Looking ready to fight the Porsche Panamera, the upcoming station wagon is Denza’s fourth model, following in the footsteps of the D9 minivan and the N7 and N8 crossovers. The first three sport the "Styled by Mercedes" badge as the German premium carmaker was involved in the interior design.
