Initially, the shooting brake vehicles of old were built so that they were capable of carrying around large hunting parties, equipment and game. That was when hunting was still in fashion.
To this day, those vehicles evolved into station wagons and became increasingly popular over the years, a lot of people preferring them to other variants like sedans or coupe, mostly for their added practicality.

With BMW’s current orientation towards every possible niche, a shooting-brake might show up in its official line-up, sooner than you’d expect. Therefore, a rendering exercise wouldn’t be the worst thing ever.

Theophilus Chin already started working on one and it’s close to the final shape. His take on the matter is based on a 4 Series Coupe that received a Touring rear end.

In traditional BMW fashion, the front are rear overhangs were kept as short as possible while the roof has a slightly sloping roofline. Up front and in the back, things are designed in the usual Bimmer fashion with the sleek headlights and massive air intakes on forward facing bumper and the L-shaped taillights the other way around.

If such a car ever came to life, would you be interested or not? Could this become reality or would it be just another abomination that would end up forgotten somewhere in a dark corner?
