BMW is obviously targeting a broader market share in China, the country that is soon to become its number one market in the world. Recent developments in the Asian country seem to point this way.
At the moment, the Chinese customer that wants a roadster from BMW has his pick out of 4 Z4 models, the sDrive20i, sDrive28i, sDrive35i and sDrive35is. However, spy photographers caught up with yet another model.
According to Carnewschina.com the car we're looking at is the new Z4 sDrive18i, an entry level car for the roadster aficionado. The new car would start at around CNY500,000 ($81,500), instead of CNY583,000 ($95,052) which is the price for the cheapest Z4 in China at the moment, the sDrive20i.
As for the numbers, the sDrive18i will have the same output as its European brother, being powered by a 2-liter 4-cylinder turbocharged engine that delivers 156 HP and 240 Nm (177 lb-ft) of torque to the rear wheels.
