Since 2009, the F01 7 Series started the Fxx codenames for the new BMWs that came after. As usual, the flagship limousine lead the way and showed us what it means to have every possible feature on a car within the reach of your arm.
Now, BMW is working on the next model, codenamed G11. This new car will probably, once again, set new standards for luxury, efficiency and dynamics, in its own segment.

Since most Bimmers that are coming out these days seem to follow the same path, we're guessing the new 7er will also make extensive use of CFRP to bring down weight whilst also using turbocharged engines to reduce fuel consumption.

From the looks of our latest batch of spy shots, the car that took to the Nurburgring this week looks like a long wheelbase model, judging by the long doors at the back. Some might think that it's just because the car will grow in length and this is not a special edition but if that was the case, the difference between the front and rear doors would've been smaller.

According to the usual lifespan of BMW models, the new 7 Series should be available starting with 2016, with a couple of new, more efficient engines, some say maybe even 2-liter units might make it on the limousine.
